Nutricare NG tubes have shown to be effective and safe in clinical practice. We have shown a reduction in the number of chest x-ray requests since using these devices as aspiration of gastric contents via the device appears to be more successful compared to other types of NG tubes. Additionally they have been shown to be more cost effective than the previous product used in the trust. As a trust we had used Enteral UK Nasal Bridles and Gastrostomy Tubes for a number of years, and following a product review decided to switch to use the Enteral UK NG Tubes, pH Strips and Syringes. The changeover of all the products was launched at the same time and was seamless, with the support both in literature and by the company representative to the trust staff on all the wards and departments ensuring we had a well organised and incident free transition. We continued to receive the same level of support following the transition, and also during the ENFit® changeover which as no doubt impacted on our aim as a trust for patient safety to be at the forefront.

At ASPH NHS Foundation Trust we believe in putting our patients first and by using Enteral UK Nasogastric Tubes we were able to choose a product that exceeded the standards required in the NPSA safety alerts and made a cost saving over our previous supplier. As a trust we had already had great support from Matt Harrison from Enteral UK during the ENFit® change over and once again Matt was able to support the change across both hospital sites by providing training materials and visiting the wards to explain the changeover to the staff. I find Enteral UK a responsive company to work with and willing to help support training and education. Matt is always happy to be asked to support relevant education days.

Within GG&C we use a number of Enteral UK products and Sam Hughes, Product Specialist for Enteral UK has on numerous occasions attended GG&C education days and visited wards at our request to update staff on new products or existing products by providing information and / or training demonstrations as required. On occasion, when we have required to use a product for the first time, Sam has provided training and support for the Nutrition Support Team.
